Multi-Factor Authentication or 2-step verification makes your Planning Maestro account more secure by requiring you to authenticate your identity in two ways:
1.Your username and password.
2.A code generated by a Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) app on your phone or other device.
This document shows you, a Planning Maestro user, how to enable, use, and disable Multi-Factor Authentication for your own account.

Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication
Step 1: In your Planning Maestro account, click on the Profile icon ( ) in the top right.
|
Message you see if an Administrator has required MFA for all users:
Step 2: The Profile page opens. Under Multi-Factor Authentication, click on the Enable Multi-Factor Authentication toggle switch to turn it to the ON position.
New fields appear below.
Step 3: On your phone or another device, install a TOTP (Time-based One Time Password) app.
|
Step 4: After installing the TOTP app, open the app, aim the device’s camera at the square-shaped QR code on the screen, and scan it. The app should acknowledge a successful scan.
|
Step 5: After you install the TOTP app and scan the QR Code, the app should give you a temporary 6-digit password or authentication code. (Most apps change the password/authentication code every 10 seconds or so.) Enter that 6-digit password in the field provided in Planning Maestro and click Save.
Example of a TOTP app, Authenticator:
- A confirmation message appears.
- A message appears with your backup recovery codes. You can use these codes if you need to log into Planning Maestro but misplace the phone or other device that has the TOTP app. Each code only works once.
|
If you used up all your backup recovery codes, please ask your Administrator to temporarily disable MFA for you. Then, you can set it up again and generate new recovery codes.
