Registry Changes for Analytics Maestro

Follow

Sometimes Registry Entries that dictate the load behavior to Analytics Maestro in Excel are modified by other processes (Updates to Windows or Excel, other Excel addins and more) these modifications can cause issues with Analytics Maestro connecting or starting up in Excel.

If you are seeing runtime errors in the COM Addins section of Excel, it is likely the LoadBehavior settings in the computer registry are incorrect.

The LoadBehavior can be updated in the registry of the computer by doing the following;

This process is not as complicated as it sounds but it does use Registry Editor which is not something a lot of people interact with often. Please let us know if you need assistance and we can schedule time to connect to make the changes.

In addition, depending on how your computer is set up your IT may need to assist you with Registry Editor if you are prompted for administrator credentials when you try to open the Registry Editor App. If this is the case you should contact your IT department.

First, close all Excel windows on the computer

Open Registry Editor on the computer

Open the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder, then open Software > Microsoft > Office > Excel

There should be two folders, Addins and AddinsData

Open the Addins Folder and double click BimAnalyzer.Excel

Right click LoadBehavior then click Modify

If the Value data is not set to 3, change it to 3, leave the Base radio button set to Hexidecimal and click OK

Back in the Excel folder, select the AddinsData folder, if there is a BimAnalyzer.Excel file there, double click it, then right click LoadBehavior, click Modify, and ensure it is set to 3.

Depending on the computer there may also be LoadBehavior files in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

If you minimize the the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder, it makes it easier to see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE open Software > Microsoft > Office > Excel

Check the Addins and AddinsData folders for BimAnalyzer.ExcelAddin entry and modify the LoadBehavior to be set to 3 just like in the  HKEY_CURRENT_USER folders described above.

Then re-open Excel and try to activate Analytics Maestro again.

Please let us know if you are successful or have any questions or problems.
